Status update:

Jackie does not like to be told how to do her job by people who don't understand the dynamics of how these things work. She has good judgment, can be trusted and is a responsible human being. Back off. I don't tell you how to do your job. Grr.

Yikes. What happened?

Ug, just people in town who don't like that I'm just doing my job.

And part of that job is being in touch with what goes on in the community.

And part of what is going on in the community is happening at a company in town. Where a person working there asked me to help look into someone getting fired.

I called the company's main office vaguely asking about downsizing. They ignored my call.

Someone else at the company, who I used to be pseudo-friends with told me to back off because I'm making things worse.

But when it comes down to it, I only looked into it as a favour. I was asking about downsizing (not unheard of in a recession). And really, I have good judgement. And it's not like CBC regularly reports on the firing of a single individual in a random company. It would have to take something big for this to be newsworthy.

Sometimes people are just ridiculous and assume they know everything.

And sometimes small-town reporting is impossible.
