Another question for the northern-ites...

Let's talk internet/cable.

I move to my new apartment in a week or two, so I thought I'd send out the question...

Who do most people use for internet/cable? I know of QINIQ, but are there others?

Ooookay this just deleted my comment! Grr. Haha okay...you have two options for each:

-Satellite TV via Bell ExpressVu

-Local cable. Has 48 channels and is decent enough. That's what we have and we like it just fine.

-Qiniq. No installation of satellite required. Slow at times and expensive.

-NetKaster. Need to install a satellite, but it's faster. No idea on price.

It is around $800 to install netkaster and then $67 a month.

My hubby said no to that retarded amount so we have shitty qiniq.

Oh yeah, there are 3 Qiniq plans. One is 156kpbs down and is the $67/month one. Jeff and I have the 384kbps down one and it is $120/month (ughhh). There is a higher tier, 768kbps down and is $400/month. I believe it's meant for businesses.

You have a download cap, too. That's why we have the $120/month one. It gives us 5gb per month which we almost always get very close to. We've gone over 2 or 3 times but it's usually because I've downloaded a bunch of CDs. The lowest Qiniq plan gives you 3gb I believe. That should be sufficient if it's just you using your account.

Hope that helps!

Gross gross gross.

That is all I have to say.

I guess my nasty little downloading habit will have to be put to rest.

That's alright. Its not like I'm a student anymore. I can afford CDs. Now just how to get them hmmmm :)

Amazon/Chapters/Indigo/Ebay, here I come.

Yay for Amazon. Over $40 and it's free shipping. We were doing that until I realized the cost of XpressPost through Amazon is strangely cheap.
